Clever heroine, engaging, quite violent
I liked this book more than I expected to! Carmen is a clever heroine who, despite the odds against her, manages to stay strong and control her own destiny. The story is exciting and will keep readers engaged. I was surprised by the level of violence, as this book is listed as appropriate for kids as young as 10 in most places - I would say 12+ is a better rating.
