This magical and exciting adventure is sure to be enjoyed. The Secret of Platform 13 is highly engaging, out of the box, and ridiculously funny. In this book you will learn about all sorts of strange creatures as well as the importance of family. Eva Ibboston is a true genius when it comes to writing for children - she was my favorite author for a long time as a kid! I personally prefer her non-fantasy books. Engaging and hilarious, this book will have you explaining to people what a 'Gump' is for months.

Though this book is funny and engaging - I think it lacks some character depth. The 'good' characters are fully developed and great, but the villains are very two dimensional. I think that it is important to have all of your characters having full personalities - otherwise it promotes the misunderstanding of others. Every person has emotions and wants to be good, even if they seem to be mean.
